- The Lion Pavise is a handy anti with a new sponge that is neither a damping sponge nor a normal sponge. This sponge does not make the covering faster or slower, but increases the disturbing effect.
The Pavise's pace is exactly in the middle between Gigant and Gigant II, significantly higher than that of the Mantlet. The Pavise is still a very slow rubber, but the tempo reserves are sufficient to play your own offensive strokes. With the Pavise, due to the very hard and inelastic upper rubber, no topspins of your own are possible, but counterballs and a shot at weak returns from the opponent.
The ball stroke is overall medium hard and a bit harder than the other Lion and SpinLord Antis mentioned above. What is very striking is a certain “liveliness” of the surface, which one would not normally expect with such a slow surface. The Pavise has a little more catapult effect than usual.
The Pavise is aimed primarily at experienced anti-players. The interference effect is comparable to that of smooth Antis, but so is the control. This makes the Pavise more difficult to play than the Lion Mantlet or the SpinLord Gigant, but also much more dangerous.
The Pavise is particularly suitable for block play at the table, we cannot recommend this surface for undercut protection. The grip of the upper rubber is the same as that of the Lion Mantlet.
The weight of the covering is very low.
There is a protective film on the back of the sponge, which must be removed before assembly.
