Pips-out Short FRIENDSHIP 802 SP red
- The Friendship 802 SP is a completely new rubber with its own ITTF approval, which has only a few things in common with the classic Friendship 802. This rubber is also marketed with the suffix "Legend".
Like the "old" 802, the 802 SP is an offensive short pimple.
In all other points, however, the two rubbers differ considerably in some cases.
The very short pimples of the 802 are conically shaped. The nub surface is very lightly corrugated. At first glance, you might even think that it is not corrugated, but the corrugation can be seen under a magnifying glass. The width of the nubs and the distance between the nubs are average.
The upper rubber is basically hard, but still slightly elastic (it is definitely more elastic than the upper rubber of the monitor lizard). It's also very fast; The fact that the rubber is not extremely fast is due to the sponge.
The build quality and durability are significantly better than the cheaper older models.
In our opinion, the open-pored sponge has a hardness of approx. 42-44 degrees and also offers a slight built-in speed glue effect. However, the sponge is not extremely fast, the speed of this rubber is mainly generated by the top sheet.
The 802 SP is particularly suitable for the typical pimple game with counter and block balls, but playing with rotation is also possible.
The quite strong nub effect is positive. The ball flight curve is short, flat and not always easy for the opponent to calculate. However, there is no disruptive effect at all with this rubber due to kinked pimples.
The negative is the noticeably lower speed compared to some SpinLord pimples and the fact that the rubber is currently only available in 2.1 mm. The 802 SP is definitely more dynamic than all other short pimples from Friendship.
Overall, the 802 SP is easy to play, effective and definitely Friendship's best short pimple to date. It's also better than what most other China brands can offer, in our opinion. Compared to what SpinLord can offer, however, it seems rather unspectacular.
