- Curiously, the Friendship KTL Limitless is listed in the ITTF approval list as an independent new brand "Friendship KTL".
The sponge of the rubber, which consists of 2 different sponges, is also curious.
The upper sponge is red and has a hardness of 39 degrees (manufacturer's information according to the DHS scale, according to the standard scale and our assessment: approx. 48 degrees), the lower sponge is orange and has a hardness of 37 degrees (manufacturer's information according to the DHS scale, according to the standard scale and our assessment: approx. 44 degrees). The ball impact is quite hard overall.
KTL has already made such a rubber, but back then the top rubber was bad and so was the bonding of the two sponges. Nevertheless, the rubber already had some fans back then. Now both are much better - the rubber is made by Friendship and is of the same quality as Friendship's most expensive rubbers. However, we cannot guarantee that you can re-glue this rubber several times without the bonding of the two sponges breaking.
The two sponges are not the same thickness, by the way - they merge into one another a little after bonding, but you can clearly see that the upper red sponge is much thinner than the lower orange sponge.
The top rubber is very sticky and elastic. It is very similar to that of the Battle II, perhaps even a little more elastic.
The (entire) sponge is also comparable to that of the Battle II, but the sponge of the Limitless has a little more catapult and dynamics. The rubber is not extremely fast, however.
Its spin values are really good, but the spin that this rubber generates is very unpleasant for the opponent.
There are still 2 negative points: The rubber is heavy (uncut approx. 72 g) and the price is relatively high. Both are due to the new sponge.
It is still too early to judge whether the idea is brilliant or not. Fans of sticky Chinese rubbers who rely on maximum spin and have no problem with the weight could certainly be enthusiastic about this rubber. In particular, players who have previously played a rubber from the Battle II series will certainly be satisfied with the Limitless - however, the Limitless is about 3-5 grams heavier than all Battle II variants.
However, anyone who has previously played German or Japanese rubbers should stay away from this rubber, unless they want a radical change.
