New in
- The new 2024 version of the SpinLord RD2 is almost the same wood as the old version.
However, the outer veneers are now made of Limba and the intermediate veneers of Koto. The core veneer is still made of Ayous.
So only the outer and intermediate veneers have been swapped. The effect is still clearly noticeable: The ball impact is now a little softer and more sensitive. In addition, Limba as an outer veneer is more robust and does not fray as easily (the wood still has to be sealed, of course).
Otherwise nothing has changed. Neither the weight nor the speed, and the handles are of course the same.
The SpinLord RD2 is therefore a top-class offensive blade and in terms of play is already the best that is possible as a classic veneer combination without a synthetic fiber insert (e.g. carbon).
The ball impact is medium-hard, but at the same time the RD2 is surprisingly elastic for such a fast offensive blade.
The size of the hitting surface is approximately 155 x 152 mm, the handles are a little stronger like the SpinLord RD1 (handle length again approximately 10.2 cm).
The weight distribution is significantly more handle-heavy than with many other (Chinese) offensive blades without balsa.
The RD2 is ideal for a versatile, effect-oriented European offensive game. The control values are so high that passive shots are also possible.
This blade can also be combined very well with "material", especially with short pimples.
In our opinion, the RD2 is no worse than significantly more expensive blades from other manufacturers and is even better processed. Only the appearance is a little plainer, but thanks to the very tasteful design, the RD2 has nothing to hide here either.
Overall, a blade that can be recommended almost without reservation, with the exception that the stronger handles are not suitable for use in the youth sector with younger players.
