  • We offer the Phoenix in 2 versions: soft and medium. The differences are not very big. The softer version is slightly better for soft topspins with long arm movements than the harder, which has the edge for blocks and counter-attacks.

The Friendship Phoenix is a new product from 2024.

The Phoenix is, as you would expect from Friendship, sticky (quite strong in fact), but unusually elastic and soft for this brand. The Phoenix is even more elastic than all previous Friendship rubbers. Overall, however, it is not a very fast rubber, but at best a controlled offensive rubber.

The spin values of the Phoenix are extremely high. The rubber optimally supports topspins with long arm movements that are geared towards maximum spin. Even venomous backspin balls can be played very effectively with this rubber.

Overall, the Phoenix is an easy-to-play rubber with high control.

However, it lacks the penetrating power for fast offensive shots. The Phoenix has a surprisingly high catapult effect, but not a high top speed. Therefore, it is not particularly good for hard shots and is also less suitable for offensive play from half distance.

Overall, the Phoenix is more likely to appeal to players in the lower to middle leagues. For strong players, the Phoenix is only suitable as a backhand rubber.

For players who have previously played rubbers such as Sky Wing, Palio CJ 8000 Spin or KTL Pro XP, the Phoenix could be an interesting alternative, as the spin values are a little higher.

The Phoenix's very good workmanship and low weight (in 2.0 mm approx. 60 g in an uncut square) are also definitely good reasons for choosing the Phoenix.

We offer the Phoenix in 2 versions: soft and medium. The differences are not very big, however, as the harder version is still quite soft. The softer version is a little better suited for soft topspins with long arm movements than the harder one, which has the edge for blocking and counter-attacking balls.

However, since a thinner sponge is generally much better than a thicker one for block and backspin balls, regardless of the degree of hardness, the 1.8 mm version of the Phoenix Soft is the best version overall for these two types of shots. This version is of course also the most controlled and slowest.

We offer the slightly harder version (medium) here.
