The Sword Ares was a positive surprise, because it plays in fact significantly different from all rubbers so far offered. Despite the thick sponge of Ares is namely very slow. It is interesting the fact that the top sheet individually by no means slow. It is the sponge that slows the rubber. Here, the sponge but not a classical damping sponge foam, will not be lost so that monitoring and elasticity. The top sheet is highly elastic and very tacky. The surface is also total very hard (hardness of the sponge according to the manufacturer: 48 degrees). This coating is therefore a pure defensive rubber, which produces very unpleasant block and backspin balls. Own offensive strokes are possible, but with difficulty and only close to the table is possible with shorter arm movements. The Ares is in 2.1mm about as fast as the spinning Lord Marder in 1.5 mm! The build quality is good, and for such a hard coat of Ares is also quite easy.
