The Greif is a harder and more dangerous version of the Sternenfall Pro.

Now the Sternenfall Pro was already at least a medium-hard long pimple - the Greif is definitely a hard pimple. It is even the hardest long pimple in our range - only the medium-length pimple Friendship Dr. Evil is harder.

In contrast to the Sternenfall Pro, the pimple heads are not grooved and are slightly sticky - similar to the Dornenglanz, although the stickiness is a little less. Nevertheless, the Greif is much more grippy than the Sternenfall Pro.

The pimples are the same size as the Sternenfall Pro, and the distance between the pimples is also the same.

Basically, the harder rubber mixture increases the speed - so the Greif is quite fast.

Especially in relation to the slightly higher speed, the Greif is easy and controlled to play.

One of its strengths is certainly the blocking game at the table, simple holding - even when serving - works better with this rubber than with other pimpled rubbers. In addition, the grip of the pimple heads provides particularly strong dampening, especially for passive shots.

Due to the insensitivity to incoming rotation, the opponent's backspin balls can be pushed effortlessly into the corners or answered offensively with a topspin movement (slight pull) in order to bring your own forehand into play with a faster topspin. Basically, the grip is very strong for offensive shots and is the right rubber for players who want to put the opponent under pressure with the pimples in order to prepare their own attacking shots.

One of the great strengths of the grip is certainly the game against "empty" balls from the opponent and roll serves, which pimple players often despair of. These can also be attacked easily and effectively with the grip as with a short pimple.

The disruptive effect is considerable. However, the grip does not have a "bouncy ball effect" and the pimples do not bend as quickly. The disruptive effect here is more due to the possibility of playing with or without spin, as well as the speed variations that are easier with the grip than with other long pimples.

The grip, however, shows weaknesses in the chop block. It is not ideal for this type of defensive shot. In principle, however, the grip can be played with or without the use of the wrist.

The grip is also not intended for backspin defense. Although this is possible as an emergency solution, the grip is primarily ideal for players with their own strong forehand who want to prevent their opponent from playing a topspin at all. The grip cannot be recommended for generally more passive defensive players.

The grip is also extremely strong against opponents who play with a long pimple, as the grip is absolutely insensitive to flutter balls and pimple spin.

If you have previously played a medium-length pimple in ox because of the offensive options, but would like more disruptive effect with a similar playing behavior, then the grip is also exactly the right rubber for you.

Overall, you can imagine the Greif as a mixture of Sternenfall Pro, Dornenglanz and the Anti Sandwind, because that's what it is.

Regarding durability: Possibly due to the batch, the red rubbers seem to be a little more durable than the black ones. The red rubbers are not as indestructible as the pimples on the Sternenfall Pro, but the durability is definitely good - very good. We would still rate the durability of the black rubbers as above average - so still significantly better than the durability of the Dornenglanz and the Feuerstich Pro. Otherwise, the red and black rubbers are the same in terms of playability, but the red ones are perhaps a little more grippy and therefore a little more toxic in terms of playability.

For optimal durability and playability, we recommend mounting with the x-film adhesive film and regular cleaning of the pimple heads (e.g. with rubber cleaner and the SpinLord cleaning sponge).

This rubber is only available in ox and only in red and black.

Happy that I could get the table tennis stuff that I needed here (which I couldn't find elsewhere for the price !). Had to wait a little but it was very much worth it.
